CREATIVE SUITE INTEGRATION WITH PREFLIGHT-MODE

Aarau, Switzerland – 08.02.2012 -Picturepark is schedule to launch its new version 8.2, on February 10, 2012. The new release further enhances the functionality of the Creative Connector, which seamlessly integrates Picturepark into Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, offering unique DAM-Integration into the Creative Suite with Preflight-Mode.

With the new Picturepark Creative Connector users can open and save back assets from Picturepark directly in Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign. When saving back, the user can select to update the original asset by replacing it with or without versioning, or save it as a new asset. When save as a new asset is performed, all metadata and rights from the original asset are automatically transferred to the new asset.

Additionally, in the corresponding panels in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign, all relevant information and metadata regarding the used Picturepark assets is displayed. This information can be defined by the administrators.

Preflight mode for InDesign

“Especially in collaborative environments with several designers, updates often occur on a central file which shall consequently trigger updates of the links in InDesign too. The new Creative Connector shows a red or green light for the status which simplifies the work enormously”, says Fabienne Flückiger, Marketing & Sales Coordinator at Picturepark.

The new Picturepark Creative Connector preflight mode makes it easy to see if links have changed locally or on the Picturepark system while working on the job, and synchronizing the files if needed can simply be done in the Picturepark Panel of InDesign.

Add a PDF-Derivative to the InDesign asset

When checking-in a virtual InDesign package, a PDF can be automatically rendered. The system can be configured such that this PDF is provided as an E-Book or PDF/X3 download alongside the template. The PDF settings are taken out of InDesign. Subject to the user permissions, a graphic designer can access the InDesign and the PDF while a regular user may only be allowed to access the PDF version.

Preview for InDesign documents

When using Picturepark Creative Connector, the local InDesign is used to render previews for the InDesign document uploaded through Creative Connector. Independent of this, Picturepark 8.2 also supports rendering of InDesign documents on the server, without the need of using the Creative Connector. However, a license of the Adobe InDesign server is required. We can now also provide attractive conditions for purchasing an InDesign server for the sole use of InDesign document rendering in Picturepark.
